Welcome to your Open Day

From your programme of the day to information around parking, getting around and how to get exclusive travel discounts, here is everything you need to know about your Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ Open Day on Saturday 4 July.

Take a look at your Open Day programme, and plan your day to make the most of your time with us.

Important travel information

For most visitors, we recommend parking at Leicester City, King Power Stadium. Please take a look at our travel information for full details before you set off.

Check-in locations

When you arrive, make sure you head to check-in where our friendly team will give you your Open Day Pack, which has an event guide, campus map, accommodation booklet, information about living at home while you study and a food/drink voucher, to help you make the most of your day before your talks start.

You can check in at

  • Leicester City, King Power Stadium (free park and ride available) – opens from 7.45am
  • – opens from 8.30am
  • Lawn – opens from 8.30am
  • – opens from 8.30am
  • – opens from 8.30am

We also have a dedicated quiet check-in location for visitors that may find large public spaces, noise and crowds of people overwhelming.

There’s plenty happening across our Open Day and we’d love you to make the most of everything on offer. If you’d prefer a slightly calmer experience, you can choose to visit between 2.30pm and 3.30pm, when the event is less busy and has a more relaxed feel. It’s a great opportunity to take things at your own pace and have more one-to-one conversations with academics at their drop-in sessions.

Take a look at our helpful information about travel, parking and discounts to help you plan your journey in advance, including our free park and ride service from Leicester City Football Club King Power Stadium (the first bus leaves at 8.00am).

Getting around campus

Most of our campus is accessible with a short walk between buildings. If you require any help or support on the day, please don’t hesitate to get in touch at study@le.ac.uk.

We’ve divided our campus into colour-coded zones to make it easier for you to find your way.

Campus zones

  • Purple — Freemen’s Common
  • Orange — Right side of Central Campus
  • Green — Left side of Central Campus (includes Maurice Shock Building and George Davies Centre)
  • Pink — Brookfield Campus

When you check in, you’ll receive a printed version of the campus map so you can navigate easily using the zone system.

Free shuttle buses

There’s lots to see today and we’ve made it easy with our free shuttle buses:

Bus 1 – Campus Shuttle 8.30am – 4.30pm

  • Going between Central Campus (Entrance 1), Brookfield (School of Business) and The Village (Accommodation) every 10 – 15 minutes;
  • Buses between 8.30am and 9.30am only go to Brookfield;
  • From 9.30am onward the bus will complete the full route;
  • To give you enough time to have a look around, the last bus to The Village departs Central Campus at 3.30pm (Brookfield 3.40pm);
  • Last return bus to Central Campus and Brookfield departs The Village at 4.30pm.

Bus 2 – Park and Ride 8.00am – 5.00pm

  • Going between Central Campus (Entrance 2) and Leicester City, King Power Stadium every 5 – 10 minutes.
  • The first bus leaves Leicester City, King Power Stadium at 8.00am.
  • From 4.50pm onward, all buses from The Village will stop at Central Campus before heading to Leicester City, King Power Stadium.

Bus 3 – City centre bus 8.30am – 5.00pm

  • Going between Central Campus (Entrance 2), St. Margaret’s Bus Station and Leicester Train Station;
  • First bus at St. Margaret’s Bus Station from Stand SA is at 8.30am and departs every 35 minutes;
  • First bus at Leicester Train Station is at 8.30am. Between 8.30am and 10.00am the bus will run every 15 minutes. From 10.00am onwards, the bus will run every 35 minutes;
  • Last bus from Central Campus (Entrance 2) leaves at 5.00pm, arriving at the Bus Station at 5.10pm and the Train Station 5.20pm

What's on

Our Open Day is a brilliant way to experience all we have to offer. We do anticipate the day being busy so please give yourself plenty of time to check in, plan your day and get to your talks.

You do not have to book to attend any talks, apart from the Welcome to Medicine at Leicester talk. If you have registered your interest in medicine, you should have recieved an email to book your talk. If you have not recieved this, please email study@le.ac.uk.

  • Attend a 'Welcome to the Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ' talk.
  • Take a guided tour of our campus with one of our current students.
  • Visit general talks covering topics such as student wellbeing, student finance and budgeting, and the UCAS application process.
  • Chat with current students to gain their insights on what it is like to be a student at the Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ.
  • Stop by our Student Life Fair where you can learn more about what we have in place at the University to make your student experience second to none.

University-managed accommodation

A big part of university life is where you'll live, and finding your new home from home. We've got lots for you to see, so why not visit both of our accommodation sites: The Village and The City, to take a self-guided tour.

We would recommend allowing for 90 minutes at The Village and 60 minutes at The City.

  • The Village: Hop on the free campus shuttle bus from Central Campus (Entrance 1) and head to The Village. Feel free to drive if you prefer, we have freef parking. Use LE2 2ND in your SatNav.
  • The City: Located a 10-minute walk from Central Campus on Putney Road near our Freemen’s Common campus.

Travel and parking

Getting to campus is easy. We're located close to great transport links - whether that's road, train or even a plane!

Wherever you're travelling from, we have provided all the information you need to find your way to us.

Travelling by car

Central Campus, Freemen’s Common or The City accommodation

Park for free at Leicester City, King Power Stadium and catch our free park and ride bus. The first bus leaves at 8:00 am.

  • Use the postcode LE2 7JU. Once you’re on Raw Dykes Road, follow the signs for Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ Open Day parking and the King Power Stadium.

Alternatively, you can park at our multi-story car park on Putney Road (LE2 7TF).

  • Enjoy a reduced parking rate of just £2.75 for the day. You can pay on arrival or exit.
  • The car park has a height limit of 2.1m.

Once this car park is full, you will be redirected to alternative parking nearby.

For Brookfield campus

If your subject is Accounting and Finance, Business and Management (including Human Resource Management), Economics or Marketing, please drive straight to our Brookfield Campus (Holmfield Road, LE2 1SD) where free parking is available.

Accessible parking

If you need disabled or accessible parking, email us at study@le.ac.uk so we can arrange suitable parking for you.

Travelling by train

Leicester Train Station is around a 15-minute walk to Central Campus or a 25-minute walk to Brookfield Campus.

Make use our free shuttle bus between the Train Station, St. Margaret’s Bus Station and Central Campus.

  • First bus from the Train Station is at 8:40 am;
  • Last bus from Central Campus (Entrance 2) is at 5.00pm (arrives at the Train Station at 5.20pm).

You can also take a taxi using these postcodes:

  • Brookfield: LE2 1SD

Travelling by coach

St. Margaret’s Bus Station is around a 35-minute walk to Central Campus or a 45-minute walk to Brookfield Campus.

Make use our free shuttle bus (every 35 minutes) between St. Margaret’s Bus Station, Leicester Train Station and Central Campus.

  • The first bus from St. Margaret’s Bus Station (Stand SA) is at 8.30am
  • The last bus from Central Campus (Entrance 2) is at 5.00pm (arrives at St. Margaret’s Bus Station at 5.10pm)
