On successful completion of the module, you will be able to discuss and critically evaluate key theoretical concepts and debates surrounding social media influencers and the creator economy, and apply these frameworks to both the social media content you consume and your own practices of self-presentation online.

You will develop the ability to critically analyse the technical, cultural, and political economic factors that shape influencers’ content and the broader social media environments you engage with, and to assess the wider consequences of influencer cultures and platform dynamics for contemporary media and entertainment industries
