The Business of the Space Economy

This module will provide you with an overview of the current state of the space industry and its growth potential. We will critically examine the key players and market segment that are emerging from the space economy. We will look at the international and national laws and regulations affecting the space industry and explore how the regulatory environment for the space economy might evolve and develop over the coming decades. We will examine the role of government and private enterprise in shaping space policy.
We will discuss the current and future state of space access and launch services, evaluating the various types of launch vehicles and services being developed, as well as related cost analysis and market trends. We will review a range of satellite missions and services including: scientific research, earth observation, telecommunication, navigation, and remote sensing. We will look at current and emerging applications and technologies enabled by space systems, as well as discussing their potential social and economic benefits.
We will study the geopolitics of outer space and its impact in the development of the space economy and explore some of the emerging and speculative potentials such as space mining and exploration, space tourism and human spaceflight, as well as examining the investment landscape, including venture capital, private equity, and government funding.
