Engage our students

We are welcoming, you as employers, to join us on campus, or virtually, to engage and connect with our students from all year groups and degree disciplines, providing you a platform to promote your student and graduate opportunities and raise the profile and awareness of your organisation.

From our exciting week-long Festival of Careers, which attracts thousands of students each year, through to the smaller, more targeted events such as presentations, workshops and Sector Spotlight Events.

All activities are managed in line with our Careers and Employability Advertising Policy (PDF, 174kb).

For more information about ways to engage with our students or for general enquiries please contact employer.services@leicester.ac.uk.

Below are some of the opportunities we offer to engage with our students, for alternative activities or bespoke partnerships please reach out.

Sector Spotlights

Our Sector Spotlights are events hosted on campus in our Careers Hub and will focus on areas of interest and aspiration for our students and graduates. We are looking for employers to participate in these days, which will be open to students of all degree disciplines who are interested in exploring career options within that specific sector.

These events are smaller, more focused versions of our Recruitment Fairs that also include a variety of activities such as employer panel discussions, networking and other similar activities.

Participating employers will be welcome to bring any marketing and promotional materials such as roller banners and merchandise and there will be an opportunity to promote your organisation and any live opportunities you may have.

The days typically run from 11.00am until 3.00pm.

Presentations and Workshops

We are keen to engage with employers, alumni and professionals to get involved in our broad programme of presentations and workshops.

These are a great way to meet motivated students who are keen to develop their skills to enhance their applications and prepare for life after university, whilst raising your organisation’s brand awareness and promoting student and graduate vacancies.

Our current programme covers a range of sector-focused activity including:

  • Inspirational Career and Panel Talks
  • Employer-led workshops

Which all aim to showcase to our students the different careers paths and opportunities they can consider after university.

In Residence Sessions

Employer in Residence

Our Employer in Residence programme offers you the opportunity to meet one-to-one with students who are interested in a career with your organisation.

These sessions are hosted monthly, either on-campus or virtually and will be hosted monthly and aim to:

  • Offer students the ability to connect with organisations they are seeking a graduate opportunity from
  • Offer practical support such as advice on preparing for interviews and assessment centres
  • Provide individual feedback to students on CVs, applications, etc.

The Employer in Residence sessions are mainly aimed at final-year undergraduate students and participating employers must have graduate vacancies available for students to apply for. However, other student cohorts will be considered depending on the recruiting needs of your organisation.

Alumni in Residence

The Alumni in Residence programme brings talented alumni volunteers and Â鶹ÊÓƵ students together so alumni can share their career experiences and advice.

Through small networking sessions, the programme is designed to inspire students at the start of their career journeys, support their career development, build their commercial awareness and increase their confidence.

If you are a professional interested in supporting and mentoring students by sharing your industry knowledge, insights and experience in an informal environment, we would love to hear from you.
